ABC Sport - AFL - Brown cleared on technicality

ABC Sport - AFL - Brown cleared on technicality: "Brown cleared on technicality
The Brisbane Lions have had a major victory at the AFL tribunal with forward Jonathon Brown cleared to play in next week's preliminary final.
A rough play charge against the Lions forward was thrown out on a technicality.
Brown was charged with rough play after he used a headlock on St Kilda's Jason Blake.
The incident happened after play had been stopped for quarter-time and in a submission prepared by the Lions, the club argued a rough play charge could not be laid when there was no play occurring.
The club argued a different charge should have been laid.
After 15 minutes of argument and deliberations, the tribunal returned with good news for the Lions, agreeing with their submission and deciding not to proceed with the charge.
Meanwhile, the tribunal fined Brisbane captain Michael Voss $3500 for wrestling with Saints defender Max Hudghton.
Three other players - Brown, and St Kilda pair Brett Voss and Max Hudghton - pleaded guilty to wrestling charges and were fined $1,200.
Earlier, Geelong forward Kent Kingsley was given a one-match suspension for striking Port Adelaide's Chad Cornes.
Kingsley argued the contact was insufficient to warrant a striking charge but the tribunal found his actions were reckless.
Kingsley will now miss Saturday night's semi-final against Essendon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground."

ABC Sport - Sport - Riccuito to captain All-Australian team

ABC Sport - Sport - Riccuito to captain All-Australian team: "Riccuito to captain All-Australian team
Adelaide's Mark Riccuito has been named captain of the AFL's All-Australian team after being selected for the seventh time.
Port Adelaide's Warren Tredrea was named vice captain.
The top eight sides dominated selection, with the Bulldogs's Scott West, Collingwood's James Clement and Carlton's Matthew Lappin the only players in the 22 who missed out on the finals.
Brisbane had the most players selected with five.
West Coast midfielder Chris Judd was named for the first time and says it is some consolation after the Eagles were knocked out of the finals on Saturday.
'It's a very big honour to be named alongside the names that are on the side,' he said.
'It's not something you expect but it's a huge honour and very exciting.'"
